APPLICATION OF ONLINE PLATFORMS IN TRAINING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL DIGITAL COMPETENCES

Authors: Adelina Ivanova, Melina Neykova

Summary

In the conditions of a global economy and an explosion of digital and online technologies, educational institutions must respond adequately by producing well-trained professionals with both professional and digital competencies. The digital competences of each person are an indicator of his successful realization in the professional sphere. The report provides an overview of training at the Forestry University in Sofia, Bulgaria. To assess the extent to which second-year Engineering Design (Interior and Furniture Design) students possess the necessary skills and digital professional competencies when working with unfamiliar online software, they were given the task of creating a 3D design of an apartment consisting of a living room with kitchenette and bathroom using Roomstyler's 3D planning tool. In the process of work, the student's digital knowledge and skills are evaluated. Participants in the assignment were also asked to complete an anonymous online survey to examine their satisfaction and attitude to work with novel software.

INFORMATION MODELLING OF SUSTAINABLE BIOENERGY AND BIOFUEL PRODUCTION

Authors: Boriana Deliyska, Adelina Ivanova, Nikolay Nikolov, Radostina Popova-Terziyska

Summary

The European Union's Circular Economy project aims to protect the environment and reduce dependence on raw materials. The present study examines the state and the perspective of the sustainable production and use of bioenergy and biofuels as key factors in the realization of a circular economy. For this purpose, an information model is presented. The methodology for building such a model includes a definition of target, scope and users; a generalized scheme of an information system for maintenance of criteria and certificates for sustainability of bioenergy and biofuel production; consideration of software platforms and resources for implementation and publication of the information model. On the base of the generalized schema, a prototype information system is developed consisting of a user interface, functional scripts and a database of bioenergy and biofuel production in Bulgaria. The analysis of data shows the necessity of developing unified standards and classifiers to resolve inconsistencies between bioenergy/biofuel production datasets in all European Union countries.
The report has been developed under the activities of project НИС-Б-1279/19.10.2023 at the University of Forestry, Bulgaria.

TRANSFORMING TRADITIONAL TEACHING METHODS THROUGH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TECHNOLOGIES

Authors: Melina Neykova, Adelina Ivanova

Summary

Today's educational institutions are facing constant challenges related to the avalanche of developments in the process of integrating digitalization technologies and forming "smart" e-learning environments, including those based on artificial intelligence (AI). The advent of AI technologies has had a profound impact on educational processes, precipitating a paradigm shift in conventional teaching methodologies. In this context, AI can be regarded as a valuable instrument capable of executing a multitude of operations intrinsic to university activities.
Unfortunately, the dynamism of this process is very high, and the speed at which AI platforms have been generated has been increasing rapidly in recent years, while educational institutions still lack the practices, skills and readiness to operate and implement the various AI tools successfully. In this regard, the presented study provides an overview and comparative analysis of various specialized online AI-platforms that are available online and can be used both by teachers in their professional and pedagogical activities and by students, supporting the process of choosing and integrating AI-based technologies in teaching and educational activities.
